J.P. Belmar (Jennifer Pownall Belmar) studied music, ballet, tap, jazz and modern dance as she grew up in Northern Michigan.  She continued her studies at United States International University in San Diego where she performed with the International Ballet and the California Ballet, and later earned Bachelors degrees in both Dance and Communications from Western Michigan University.  Her interest in the visual arts grew during her college years when she began experimenting with a wide variety of materials and mediums, drawing inspiration from her love of music and dance.  Jennifer worked as a dance teacher and fitness instructor and imparted art classes in which music and movement were an instinsic and essential part of the creative process.  During this time, she decided to study Early Childhood Education at Northwestern Michigan College.  After working in Montessori schools in California, Michigan and Mexico City, she moved to Murcia, Spain where she lived for 12 years.  There she raised and homeschooled her 3 incredible children. She also worked as both an English teacher at her own academy and a performer/teacher/choreographer/scenery artist For Ballet Camargo. While living in Spain, Jennifer earned her B2 Advanced Proficiency Certification through La Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Murcia.  She later went on to earn her K-12 Spanish Teaching Certification through the the University of West Florida. She moved back to Northern Michigan with her family the summer of 2012 to take a job as a Spanish teacher at Grand Traverse Academy in Traverse City.  She adores her students and incorporates dancing and singing into her lessons daily.  Jennifer has sold her art work in both Spain and the U.S.
